My first custom made action figure debuted at Designer Con 2017. I worked all year with my good friend and Rad Retro Power teammate, Nerdy Chavez. We wanted to create our own 80s/90s style action figure that captured the essence of our favorite toys we grew up with but also wanted it to have a mainstream quality to it.
Both of us being fans of Michael Jackson wanted to pay tribute to the King of Pop and also throw in some fun, creative 80s tidbits that spawned from our imaginations. We imagined a universe where Michael was this big, buff bodied hero similar to He-Man or Lion-O but also possessed items unique to the 80s era. So we gave him a Nintendo Power Glove we call his, "Power Gauntlet." We also wanted him to have a futuristic weapon he would carry so we designed a space blaster similar to the Laser Tag guns we played with as kids. Lastly we had to give him his iconic white glove.
The figure was sculpted by my pal, the amazing, May Thamtarana.
Hand painting each figure and helping us complete everything was done by our good friend, Lando Wilkins aka Uncle Skro.
In the end I couldn't be more excited with the outcome and feedback of Captain Jaxon. I created two version of the figure, deluxe and standard. The deluxe version came in a closed box packaging with alternate arm accessories and high impact foam cushioning. The standard version comes with the Captain wearing the power gauntlet and a rad retro power token! Also packaged in a resealable blister card!
